Whisky gifts for Christmas 2026 by budget

Whisky gift ideas under £30, £50 and £100 that UK retailers have in stock, with delivery costs and free-delivery thresholds.

Our links go straight to the retailer. We do not earn a commission from them.

For a widely stocked 12-year-old single malt, start with Glenfiddich 12 Year Old at £38.99 at DrinkSupermarket.com or Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood at £50.95 at Hard To Find Whisky. Old Pulteney Harbour is another single malt at £27.00 at Loch Fyne Whiskies. Every list below uses live stock and prices, so check the bottle page before ordering.

How we chose

These are bottles in stock and in budget, not our favourites. We preferred full-size bottles sold by at least two independently owned retailers, with a spread of styles in each band. The bottle facts come from labels and catalogue records; we have not tasted them for this guide.

We check DrinkSupermarket.com, Hard To Find Whisky, Loch Fyne Whiskies, The Whisky Shop and Tyndrum Whisky. Loch Fyne Whiskies and The Whisky Shop have the same owner, so we count them as one retailer when judging how widely a bottle is stocked. Prices exclude delivery unless the offer says otherwise.

Under £30

This band includes blended Scotch, Irish whiskey, bourbon and single malt. The full under-£30 list excludes miniatures and other small formats.

Robert Burns Blend — £23.99 at Tyndrum Whisky. A 70cl blended Scotch whisky with offers from several retailers, making it straightforward to compare.

Slane Irish Whiskey — £24.60 at Tyndrum Whisky. A full-size Irish whiskey for someone whose usual bottles come from Ireland rather than Scotland.

Old Pulteney Harbour — £27.00 at Loch Fyne Whiskies. A 70cl single malt and an alternative to the blends elsewhere in this band.

Maker’s Mark Bourbon — £28.49 at DrinkSupermarket.com. A 70cl Kentucky straight bourbon for someone who already drinks American whiskey.

£30 to £50

There is more choice of age-stated single malt here, alongside Irish whiskey and blended malt. Compare the full £30–£50 selection if none of these fits.

Glenfiddich 12 Year Old — £38.99 at DrinkSupermarket.com. A 12-year-old Speyside single malt stocked across all five retailers we check.

Arran Barrel Reserve — £33.90 at Tyndrum Whisky. A 70cl Arran single malt without an age statement; choose it for the distillery rather than an age on the label.

Jura 12 Year Old — £34.00 at The Whisky Shop. A 12-year-old single malt from Jura, with several shops to compare.

Jameson Black Barrel — £35.00 at The Whisky Shop. A 70cl Irish whiskey for a recipient who already knows the Jameson range.

£50 to £100

This band covers older age statements, sherry-cask maturation and peated whisky. See the full £50–£100 list for the complete selection.

Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood — £50.95 at Hard To Find Whisky. A 12-year-old Speyside single malt matured in two cask types, available from every retailer we check.

Stauning Kaos Triple Malt — £65.99 at DrinkSupermarket.com. A 70cl Danish triple malt for someone whose collection extends beyond Scotch, Irish and American whiskey.

Ardbeg Corryvreckan — £74.95 at Hard To Find Whisky. An Islay single malt for someone who already chooses Ardbeg’s usually heavily peated house style. It has no age statement.

Redbreast 12 Year Old — £56.00 at The Whisky Shop. A 12-year-old single pot still Irish whiskey, distinct from the blended Irish whiskey in the lower bands.

£100 and over

At this level, standard UK mainland delivery is free at the retailers we check, subject to their terms. The £100–£250 list gives the wider choice.

Nikka Tailored — £104.99 at DrinkSupermarket.com. A 70cl Japanese blended whisky with offers from all five retailers we check.

The Glenlivet 18 Year Old — £100.00 at Loch Fyne Whiskies. An 18-year-old Speyside single malt for someone who already buys age-stated whisky.

Bunnahabhain 18 Year Old — £120.00 at Loch Fyne Whiskies. An 18-year-old Islay single malt from a distillery whose own-name whisky is usually unpeated, unlike the island’s smokier houses.

Yamazaki 12 Year Old — £120.00 at Loch Fyne Whiskies. A 12-year-old Japanese single malt. The standard bottle is listed separately from the anniversary release, so check the label before comparing.

If they like smoke, sherry or bourbon

For smoke, compare peated whisky and check whether a bottle’s peat tag comes from its label or the distillery’s house style. For sherry casks, the sherry-cask selection includes full maturation and finishes. For American whiskey, start with the bourbon list rather than assuming every US bottle is bourbon.

Gift packs and small bottles

Aberfeldy 12 Year Old Gold Tin (£45.00 at Loch Fyne Whiskies) adds a tin to a 70cl age-stated single malt. A Christmas Treasure Secret Speyside 7 Year Old (£49.00 at The Whisky Shop) is a 70cl seasonal bottling without a named distillery. The Glenlivet Spectra set (£102.99 at DrinkSupermarket.com) contains three 20cl bottles rather than one full-size bottle.

Gift packaging is not a reliable guide to what is inside. Compare the age, size and cask information with the plain bottle where both are available. For 5cl miniatures and other small formats, see whisky miniatures and small bottles.

Delivery before Christmas

We do not hold retailers’ Christmas order deadlines, so check the shop’s current delivery page before ordering. Standard services listed on 23 October 2026 ranged from next day at Loch Fyne Whiskies to 5–10 days on Tyndrum Whisky’s lowest-cost service. The other published standard services were 1–3 days at Hard To Find Whisky, 3–4 at The Whisky Shop and 3–5 at DrinkSupermarket.com.

At the time of that check, standard UK mainland delivery was free on orders over £99, except at Hard To Find Whisky, where the threshold was £100. Below the threshold, one bottle cost £4.50–£5.99 to send. Hard To Find Whisky’s free-delivery offer excludes miniatures and half bottles. Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland may have different charges and times.

For serving suggestions, see Whiskipedia’s guide to whisky and food pairings.

FAQs

Which whisky makes a good gift?

Start with what the adult recipient already drinks and your budget. A bottle sold by several shops gives you more prices to compare. If you are unsure, a widely stocked 12-year-old single malt is a straightforward choice; a small-bottle set offers more than one style, but check the total volume.

Is delivery free on whisky gifts?

At the UK retailers we checked on 23 October 2026, standard delivery was free over £99, or over £100 at Hard To Find Whisky. Below that, one bottle cost £4.50–£5.99 to send to the UK mainland. Exclusions and different charges can apply to small bottles, Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland.

When should I order whisky for Christmas?

Check each retailer’s current Christmas deadline; we do not have those dates. Published standard services on 23 October 2026 took between next day and 10 working days, depending on the retailer and service. Seasonal demand can change dispatch times, so do not treat the standard estimate as a delivery guarantee.

Are gift packs worth the extra?

Compare the pack with the same whisky in its plain bottle, matching age, edition, size and strength. We do not have enough matched pairs here to state a typical packaging premium. A tin or box changes the presentation, but it does not by itself tell you anything about the whisky inside.

How we chose: check date and coverage

We compared in-stock offers from DrinkSupermarket.com, Hard To Find Whisky, Loch Fyne Whiskies, The Whisky Shop and Tyndrum Whisky in our 14 October 2026 catalogue check. Loch Fyne Whiskies and The Whisky Shop count as one owner. Prices and stock change; the live table on each bottle page is current, and the retailer’s checkout price is the one that counts.
